Thinking turbo, no, twinturbo! Mostly I would use my car on the racetrack (nurburgring etc) and everyday use. I was thinking: Holset may be nice, but maybe very late spoolup? Not ideal for fast laps in think. What about fitting 2 VW TDI 110 bhp variable turbos on the om 606? Not much room for them, ...

bought a om606 turbo!!
Been driving my w201 with OM603turbo for a while now, and like it. Everyday use is ok, fuel economy, when I can control myself is also good, and my best laptime so far on the Nurburgring is 9.00 min exactly BTG, with standard engine, no intercooler, yet. Couple of days ago I found an om606 for a nic...

I thought that speeds couldn't be true, but I calculated, and you're right: 222km/h@5000rpms with slightly bigger tires (205-60-r15, what I got at the rear) Sorry for my doubt, shoulda known better. But then: How can i achieve 5000 rpms with standard engine. I dont think i will reach that as it is r...

Is that because of the ASD? That the diff is wider, and therefore could only be fitted with shorter drive shafts? Also found that some w126's have 2,24 ratio (500 or 560), but that diff looks a lot different. In the end, maybe it would turn out to a complete DIY, custom made kinda thing I guess. Hav...

More progress: Car was very understeered, probably because of the heavy om603. So i put rings between the shock absorbers lowest 2 fixing points (where the absorber is bolted to the 'knuckle'. (car is on bilstein set, made for 190e 2.5d and 2.6 gasser) That way the camber of the front wheels is a bi...

ALDA is a system which prevents (a lot of) black exhaust smoke if the driver would floor the gaspedal, without enough turboboost. So without Alda, you can floor it, and have the first second some black smoke, or you can gently push the pedal halfway, and then floor it, and no smoke. Short: ALDA prev...

Yesterday spent some DIY time in the rev counter. With some soldering, and DIY, I managed to put the w124 rev counter in the w201 dash. First took of the needles of the small clock. Then with a soldering iron loosened 3 thin wires. Then unscrewed the rev counter part at the back (3 screws), and took...

Om603 has an oil cooler, yes. The cooler is in front of the leftfront-wheel, behind the bumper. Intercooler in front of the water cooler is possible, but you have to make some modifications I guess (you always have with IC's I guess...) Electrics: Turbo engine has a tiny bit more, when it comes to A...

I made mine from square steel bars, and BOLTED to the chassis, and at the drivers side (left) an extension which supports the oil cooler.

Forgotten: The first exhaust pipe that I use is from a w124 300turbo. The accelerator cable is from a w201 2.3-16, but i had to modify the bracket on the engine a little bit (sawing, bending, and then welding again) I threw the rear SLS dampers in the dustbin, so no need for a combined steering/SLS ...

OM603turbo in a w201
Okay, since yesterday, my w201 with om603turbo is on the road. Took it for a spin to the Nurburgring, but unfortunately the Ring was closed. But it was a nice and long drive, especially since this is a 'new' car to me (never driven a w201 with 603T before) Especially the Finns on this forum helped m...

That wouldnt be a problem, the number of cilinders, I THINK. Because the Om603 rev counter is hooked to a sensor which measures the speed of the starter gear of the flywheel. It would be logical that a om601 and 602 share the same way of measuring. If thats so, 1 or 2 cilinders more wouldnt matter, ...

RPM gauge diesel versus gasoline
Hi, Built in a OM603 in my w201 2.3-16. Runs OK now. I am hooking up the RPM gauge, but no luck, yet... I have a w124 300TDT RPM gauge, which came out of the same donor car as the engine I used, but that gauge doesnt fit the w201 dash.... So I hooked up the 2.3-16 original gauge, but when the engine...

BIGGER w124 diff in a w201
What needs to be done to fit a 'big' diff from a w124 300TDT in a w201 -2.3-16?
I have the diff, and seen that I need to swap the rear cover, but I have also seen that the '3-claw' is bigger.
how difficult is it to swap '3-claws'?
or do I need a different cardan axle?

Maybe HX35W or Schwitzer S2BG (fits directly to stock exhaust manifold) would be more practical solution. 250hp can be done with HX40, but general driveability won't be the best available. S2 is enough for 350hp with 60mm turbine wheel... That is what Nokileka (I believe) said to me about an om603 ...

Re: help with superturbo diesel om 603
Can you explain this a bit further please?Mauri H. kirjoitti: ps. OM603 and W201 means a lot of work.
-engine mounts?
-cutting/welding the chassis?
-16v getrag gearbox in original place?
-make more room at the front of the car for radiator/IC?
Seems to me that width is not the problem, but LENGTH.....

250 HP from a om603 turbo
Right now I would be happy if my Om603 is running OK in my w123, but for the future, I might want to take the 'Finnish route' : more horsepower 250-300 HP would be OK I guess, but WHAT and HOW MUCH is needed? I already know that I need, beyond 180 HP: -modified injection pump with bigger elements, l...

Never mind, the engine is in position! :D I had to cut away a piece from the chassis, because the turbo was hitting the chassis. And on the passenger side, i used an extra plate of 10 mm, so altogether on that side 30 mm of steel plate. I have pictures: if someone wants to see them, let me know, but...

Mm, dont understand what you have Jarski, but now I have bought a w126 axle that fits, so I am ok. Another question: You put on 1 side of the engine 1 extra plate of 10mm thick (me too off course). Why have you done this? Isnt the engine OUT off the middle that way? Or have you measured this? Anyway...
