Hi!

I'm helping a friend who owns a w123 300dt (OM617.950?) with manual transmission (4 speed). He is having a lot of trouble with clutch slipping. Even with original injection pump (just adjusted) the clutch wont hold.

The clutch is original 300d naturally aspirated. Is there any better clutch that fits right on the flywheel? He's got a Mynä modified pump just waiting to be mounted... And bigger turbo... And intercooler... So better grip on clutch is indeed needed.

Anyone who has a tip for us?

There is a seller on eBay that sells performance clutches. Follow to his website and you will find everything from OEM strength to all-out race clutches that work for our engines (Yes, a 240D clutch will work with a 300D).

How old and how many miles are on the clutch? I've had my 4-speed installed for over a year without any hint of slipping or chattering.

I'm not sure if the tranny can hold much more than 200HP or so. The automatics need some beefing up to hold the torque of these modified engines and I don't know of anyone that's beefed up an OM617 with a manual tranny behind it.

The clucth mounted today is of unknown age and mileage. But since we are going to increase boostpressure and dieselinjection a bit, it might come in handy with a clutch that could hold a little better.

The stage 2 should be able to hold far more torque than the tranny could hold. Expensive, but pure Kevlar friction material would be worth it.
