Does anyone here know how different the KKK K26 turbos are from the federal ones?
I know the 85 300d turbos have the kkk k26.
Is there a big difference from the two?
I'm pushing 12 pounds of boost on my as of now and i've notice better acceleration from the stock setting of 7psi.

There is no specific model, year, location, or vin numbers for which the KKK was used insted of the Garrett. They installed them as they were recieved for stock. It's completely random.
The K26 and T3 are very different animals.
The K26 spools faster but poops out and becomes restrictive on the high end.
The T3 spools slower but is less restrictive on the high end.
The K26 is at it's compressor speed limit (120,000rpm) at 14psi of boost on an OM617.
The T3 can run up to 18psi on an OM617 before it's speed limit is reached.
I run my K26 at 14psi with post-turbo water injection to cool the charge air.
The K26 starts to become a major exhaust restriction above 10psi boost. At 10psi intake pressure, I have an average of 15psi exhaust drive pressure. At 14psi intake, I get 28psi drive pressure.
If performance is what you are after, the KKK K26 is NOT the turbo to use. It's fine for stock settings, but is the main bottleneck if you want to get more than the stock flywheel 120HP.
I've got a GT2256V in the works that should flow enough air/exhaust to get me to 180hp. At that point I'll have to get a GT23V or GT25V to flow enough air to support a Myna injection pump.
