Hello all. Am currently interested in getting more power out of the 5 cylinder cdi. So far after looking at what tuikku has done to his c200, have taken off the aluminum egr y tube and cut out the egr mixing shroud.

This modification alone has freed up the low end power from 1000 - 1600 ( before the turbo builds up enough boost ). Before it used to judder and not change down a gear but now it just judders just a bit and changes down quicker for a more responsive driving. Another noticeable thing is that the engine breathes and builds up revs faster - it will now even pull to the redline of 4500rpm easily where it used to run out of breathe before 4000rpm.

Am now in Penang and will dyno the car tomorrow, Monday. Will post the result if I can get the chart in softcopy. Am also going to get the egr deleted in software if possible.

Next modification on the line is to change the injectors to AMG injectors. After that the intercooler needs looking at.......

Some questions that i hope some learned guys here can answer for me.

The autobox is 722.6 (?) and is rated for 560Nm ? If I run the AMG injectors and hopefully get an extra 20% power will the gearbox be able to handle the power? If yes what are the possible program changes to make the gearbox run smoother and carry the power? If the gearbox cnnot take it what is the next series that can take the power? I have seen the 722.9 attached to the 5liter v8 at a recond shop. Is it a direct replacement or would the internals need to be mixed and changed to get the 722.6 to handle the power?

I can close the egr if you need to

if the gearbox is in good condition(handle ower 600nm)

Piston NO1 and NO3 (but not bad problem)

I can close the egr if you need to

We tried to dyno the car in 4th gear but the gearbox keeps dropping to 3rd under load. Also the dyno shop we went to does not know how to get the rpm reading and also the a/f ratio. It was just a wast of money and time at that dyno shop. They only do petrol cars and do not know how to do a diesel.

Is there a way to keep the autobox from dropping to 3rd or is there a different way to dyno the car with a autobox?

The gearbox recently had the friction plates all changed but not the torque converter. It should be able to handle the power increase.

Tuikku, tried the methods but none of them seems to work. Mine is a German spec 2003 wdb2110162a model. Is there anyone here that owns the same model and knows how to get the dyno mode?

Have worked every times since then.
The main thing is, that the instrument cluster is in basic mode and key turned on first position, before you start to push the button.

If using the BM Star, where is the selection for the dyno mode?

Another question? If the 270 can enter into dyno mode, does the gearbox drop a gear from 4th to 3rd under load? Can the gearbox be programmed to stay in 4th from 1500rpm to 4500rpm without dropping a gear?

cdi203, after googling a bit, found that the galetto 1260 can be used to read and reprogram the w211 270 cdi. Can you confirm that this will work or do you have a better solution?

Changed the intercooler ( chargecooler ) to a larger Japanese greddy. The difference is night and day!!! After changing to amg injectors, From smoking all the time to smoking only when cold and at low rpm below 1200. The annoying habit of the 722.6 auto box not changing down even at low rpm is not a juddering affair now. It just judders a bit and then engine gets it's breath and revs up!!

I am using my iPhone to post this and does not know how to post pictures. I have some dyno files but do not know how to post them too.

Just got my galetto 1260 cables and will install them after next week. Am going to drive my 211 270 cdi up to Bangkok next Monday. It's a 3200km retun trip. Wish me luck. If I find out how to post pictures will post my trip. Going along is my friend driving his hilux surf with a 1kz 3 liter diesel.
