OM617 M-Pump oil

Viesti Kirjoittaja Forced_Induction »

On the Myna pump description it shows an external oil supply added.
5) Oil hose connection. Now there is the locking in the place, which locks the pump for timing. The drilling where the locking pin goes is seen in the pic3. When the pump is installed and the timing is right, remove the locking and install oil hose connection as seen in the picture.
My understanding is that the M gets its oil supply through the shaft nose drilling, vs the MW that has an external oil line.
I have had my M installed for 28k miles with no problems. I use the old MW's supply point for an external bypass oil filter.

The question is how necessary is the external oil line? It would only be flowing into the governor housing sump from the point they use. Something to do with the extra load of the 7mm elements?

I don't have an external oil line on my pump. As a matter of fact I don't know any M-pumps with an external oil line. M-pump gets the oil from the chain housing.

Thanks. I figured it must not be necessary or my pump would have failed thousands of miles ago.
I'm not sure where this picture came from, I've had it in my archives for several years.

I plan to buy 7mm elements from dieselkontor.de and have a local shop install them. Any reviews on their product?

Do you have any photos of the pumps sprocket side? If that picture which you sent is from your pump it looks pretty odd.

If you order stuff from the dieselkontor you have to be ready to wait a while before the package is there. They sometimes have a really long delivery times (maybe month or two even to europe).

No, that is of somebody else's myna pump. Mine is a basic pump from a gray market non-turbo 300D.

The 7mm is going in my summer car, so there is at least 3 months to wait anyways.

The pump is almost ready. The pump guy says it flows 120cc/cyl maximum but I'm going to have him adjust for 80cc/cyl as a baseline and I'll fine tune it on the engine to meet my goal power range.

He said the bearings didn't have wear and he would not need to rebuild the pump. So the external oil feed line is unnecessary and I won't add it since the pump has run 30k miles (48k Km) on my engine with no problems.
Maybe that picture is of a first generation Myna pump, I heard they had some issues.

It will not maintain a stable idle (surges 700-1100rpm, randomly stalls, stalls if revved without a load), hard to start, doesn't make any power until 1/2 throttle and the engine sounds like a bucket of nails. Makes very good power at full throttle though!

I double checked injection timing at 24*BTDC. I adjusted everything in the governor at least once and the best I could do is get a stable idle rpm.
And the side cover will not seal for anything! I tried 4 times and even made a cork gasket, it leaks very bad.

I'm going back to the MW pump. Anyone can make an offer if they want my M pump.
