Manual tranny
Hello all, as you know, I am very interested in building a superturbo. I think I have most everything figured out, but I still want to see if I could put a manual tranny in. I now know that these cars never came with manual trannys in them, but, people have said that is has been converted over there. The only question I have is, How have people done this? I am 99.9% sure that the bolt patterns on the '86 300E engine and the '87 300D engine are not the same. Can someone inform me with how this has been done? Also, how much more would it cost for it to be done than rebuilding and strengthening the existing auto?

With manual tranny you need custom clutch =$$$$. MB parts cannot withstand the huge torque of superturbos (=500++ lb-ft). Usually clutches that can hold over 500 lb-ft are not very street-friendly. You can't slip them when starting from standstill.
Also when you get the clutch to hold you'll probably break your differential...

So long, and thanks for all the fish
i can get your clutch reinforced with 100€. If you need further information, pm me or email me to
